WHY VOTE FOR MELINDA

A record that residents can review and judge for themselves.

For 15 years, I have studied District reports, examined evidence, spoken before Council, asked difficult questions and pushed for answers. I have consistently advocated for fair and transparent processes, meaningful public involvement and greater accountability at Municipal Hall. I will bring that same preparation, independence and persistence to Council.

A RECORD OF STANDING UP FOR RESIDENTS

I have a long history of raising concerns on the public record, challenging proposals when necessary, and advocating for residents to have a stronger voice in local decisions.

DECISIONS GROUNDED IN EVIDENCE

I will test claims against the facts, examine costs, risks and consequences, and consider practical alternatives before deciding how to vote.

TRANSPARENCY and  MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT

I will clearly communicate the facts, criteria, trade-offs and reasoning behind Council decisions, and work to ensure residents understand how their input influenced the outcome.

My commitment is demonstrated by what I have done—not simply by what I promise to do. See CIVIC RECORD

My approach

Better decisions start with better questions.

Before supporting any major decision, I will ask:

  1. Will it protect or improve residents' quality of life?

  2. Is there objective evidence to support the claimed benefits?

  3. Have the impacts been honestly identified and measured?

  4. Can we afford to operate and maintain this investment in the long term?

  5. Have residents been meaningfully involved?

  6. Will it leave West Vancouver better for future generations?

Why I'm running

From concerned resident to community advocate.

Fifteen years ago, my concerns about an Ambleside waterfront redevelopment led me to become more involved in municipal affairs.

Like many residents, I supported redeveloping the 1300 block of Marine Drive. However, I believed the proposed height and density did not fit the scale and character of Ambleside Village.

I participated in the consultation process believing residents could help shape a better outcome. Instead, I saw a divisive process that left many residents feeling unheard.

That experience led to years of researching local issues, participating in municipal processes and advocating for more transparent, community-informed decisions.

I’m running for Council because meaningful change requires a seat at the table.
